Indoor plants ensure a healthy indoor climate, increase our well-being and create a cozy atmosphere.
Alys Fowler has been gardening since she was a teenager. She was the head gardener for the BBC Two show “Gardeners' World” and Fowler is now the author of numerous gardening guides. In her latest work, she shares her knowledge of more than seventy different houseplants and what is important when it comes to proper care.
Care of indoor plants
The good news first: You don't have to be a plant professional (yet) to make your own home greener and to have a few potted plants grown. Even so, indoor plants also need a little attention. But above all: enough light, water and nutrients. And the right mix is crucial.
Individual needs
Every plant has individual lighting needs. The more the conditions in the room correspond to those of the natural environment, the more comfortable the plant feels in the apartment. “Those whose natural habitat is in the shade can also endure the semi-dark corner of the living room. Instead, the bright and hot windowsill should be used for species that are also sunny and dry in nature, ”says the author.
Tips from practice
In addition to informative and practice-oriented tips, the book also offers numerous photos of the different plant species, locations and lighting conditions. On a total of 176 pages, Fowler presents a wide variety of houseplants, from cacti and succulents to climbing plants. These are exclusively plants that can also be bought in the garden shop around the corner.
“Plant Love” – The perfect houseplant for every corner by Alys Fowler. The gardener and author presents over 70 different houseplants in this book. She reveals what is important when it comes to “happy” plants.
