Indonesian authorities release Boeing crash investigation report

Experts have released the initial investigation report of the Sriwijaya Air's Boeing 737-500 crash in Indonesia in January, Reuters reported .

“Immediately after takeoff, the airliner followed a predetermined route. Flight recorder data shows autopilot activity at an altitude of 1,980 feet, ”the National Transportation Safety Board said in a statement.

As the aircraft climbed to 8150 feet, the left engine throttle reduced power. The pilot contacted the air traffic controller and asked to turn 75 degrees due to weather conditions. Permission has been obtained. The air traffic controller urged the pilot to climb 13,000 feet, and at 14:39 local time the pilot answered. On this, the connection with the plane was interrupted.

Then the aircraft began to descend rapidly. The autopilot was disabled when the Boeing 737-500 was at 16 degrees, and the autothrottle was also inactive.

Recall that on January 9, a Sriwijaya Air passenger plane crashed into the water near Jakarta. A total of 62 people were on board. Airplane wreckage and body parts were found in the Java Sea. All those killed were citizens of Indonesia. Earlier, the media wrote that the cause of the crash of the liner could be a malfunction of the engine control system and an attempt by the crew to eliminate it.
