The head of the German government emphasized that the aggressive war waged by Russia in Ukraine concerns both Germany and India.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz supported India's mediation for a political settlement in Russia's war against Ukraine.
He said this on Friday, October 25, at a press conference in New Delhi after a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Deutsche Welle reports.
The head of the German government emphasized that the aggressive war that Russia is waging in Ukraine concerns both Germany and India.
“No one can turn a blind eye to this conflict. Therefore, I strongly encourage India to advocate for a long-term and just peace,” Scholz emphasized.
The German chancellor also stated the need to make efforts to ensure that the war, which is taking many victims, finally ends, and clearly stated how he sees the end of the war in Ukraine.
“The integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine must be preserved. This is what we are advocating for,” Scholz said.
At the same time, he noted that he welcomes India's readiness “to use strong ties with all parties to contribute to a political resolution of the conflict.”
Recall that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, announced his country's readiness to contribute to a peaceful settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
