Indian strain of coronavirus first discovered in Russia
The first carriers of the Indian strain of coronavirus were found in Russia. These are 16 Indian students from the university in Ulyanovsk, the NSN reports, citing Rospotrebnadzor.
As noted in the department, a new strain of coronavirus was confirmed in 16 foreign students of Ulyanovsk State University. Earlier, 130 Indian students arrived in the city, who are studying in the specialty “General Medicine” in the framework of the English-language program.
The rector of the university Boris Kostishko said that the tests of all students at the border were negative, but after arrival, the second test was positive in 60 people. The infected were immediately hospitalized in specialized hospitals, most of the students suffer from the disease in a mild form.
The incidence of COVID-19 in Russia in the next two months will depend on the weather, says Anch Baranova, professor at the School of Systems Biology at George Mason University. She explained that if it is hot or dry, the transmission of the virus from person to person will decrease.
