Indian authorities have declared a new variant of the delta plus (delta +) strain of coronavirus “causing concern.” The Ministry of Health said delta plus “is currently an option of concern,” India Today reported. So the department commented on the increase in the number of delta + cases.
Earlier, the Indian Ministry of Health said that the delta + option is of interest to researchers, but does not yet qualify as “causing concern.” A new variant of the coronavirus strain has been found in four districts of the state of Maharashtra in central India.
Abdul Ghafoor, an infectious disease doctor from India, called the symptoms of infection with the Indian strain of coronavirus. Indian doctors have linked symptoms to the delta strain of the coronavirus that were not previously seen in COVID-19 patients.
According to the WHO, the first COVID-19 (delta) strain detected in India is becoming dominant around the world.
