India announced the instant infectivity of a new strain of delta-plus coronavirus. This was stated by the director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Randip Guleria.
He noted that it is enough just to walk past a sick person without a mask to get infected. But in his opinion, in order to avoid this, all safety measures must be observed.
“Specialists of the Indian genomics consortium SARS-CoV-2 are studying it (the delta-plus strain. – Ed.), And we will find out how effective vaccines are against it,” the India Today portal quotes the scientist.
Delta-plus is a strain of coronavirus infection that has recently caused great concern among scientists. They note that the strain continues to mutate, causing various unpredictable consequences. At the end of last week, the state of Maharashtra announced the appearance of the “delta-plus”. It manifested the K417N mutation in the S-protein, which can reduce the activity of serum and antibodies of recovered and vaccinated people. In total, 22 cases of infection with this strain were recorded in India.
