~6 0~p>Mark Warner said the US military aid package should include long-range, longer-range ATACMS missiles.
United States may send assistance to Ukraine, in particular, long-range ATACMS systems as early as next week.
This was stated by the head of the US Senate Intelligence Committee, Democrat Mark Warner, in an interview with CBS News.
“I hope that as soon as this law reaches President Biden on Tuesday or Wednesday, these deliveries will begin immediately, including longer-range ATACMS… I hope that if the President signs, these weapons will be transferred to Ukraine by the end of the week,” Warner said.
When asked whether these would really be longer-range ATACMS, the senator replied:
“I believe that over the last few months the (Biden) administration has been prepared to prepare or provide ATACMS. It is written into this law.”
In addition, Warner recalled that Ukrainian defenders in two years of full-scale war destroyed 87% of Russia's ground forces, 63% of their tanks and 32% of armored personnel carriers.
The senator noted that the morale of the Ukrainians was excellent, but it had been blown up over the past couple of months when they were literally given a rationed number of shells – “8-10 shells a day.”
“You can't underestimate the courage and determination of the Ukrainians, but if they don't have the materials, they can't survive this fight,” Warner said.
Recall that on Saturday, April 20, the US House of Representatives passed a bill to help Ukraine worth almost $61 billion. Now this decision must be approved by the Senate.
President Vladimir Zelensky explained that thanks to this help, Ukraine will have a chance to win.
