In Zurich, Switzerland, police broke up a demonstration involving several hundred women on Saturday 6 March to mark the upcoming International Women's Day. Two people were detained. Law enforcement officers used tear gas. According to police, no one was hurt. However, the Swiss edition Blick writes that one of the demonstrators bit a police officer.
A feminist group called for the demonstration. The initiators put forward the slogan: “Let's break the rhythm of oppressive everyday life and create space for our criticism.”
Participants of the action marched along the central streets of the city. At the same time, the guards a few days earlier recalled on their Twitter page that in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, mass events in Switzerland are prohibited.
