In Uzhgorod, unidentified persons set fire to the journalist's car: the police are investigating the case

In Uzhgorod, two cars parked nearby, Subaru Forester and partly Volkswagen Beetle, owned by a local journalist, were burned.

According to the police of the Transcarpathian region, vehicles were burning on one of the streets on the outskirts of Uzhgorod. The fire completely destroyed one car and partially damaged the second.

Both cars were in the use of a local resident of Transcarpathia, who journalistic activities.

The head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine Serhiy Tomilenko said on his Facebook page that he was talking about Pavlo Biletsky. According to him, the cars belonged to the journalist and his wife.

Biletsky said in a comment to the NSJU that he binds arson of vehicles with their professional activities. The Union of Journalists condemned this crime and noted that it was an act of intimidation of Transcarpathian journalists.

The police establish all the causes of the fire in the cars. The prosecutor's office opened criminal proceedings under article 194 (Intentional destruction or damage to someone else's property by arson) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigation is currently ongoing.
