Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova said that Ukraine and the West are considering two options for developing relations with Russia, writes LB.ua.
Markarova said that both Kiev and the United States know what to do in order to “contain Russia.” “Now we are all: Ukraine, the United States, the West – we are working on“ Option A ”- diplomatic containment,” the diplomat said. She added that Ukraine is also developing a “plan B”. The representative of the country did not specify what exactly this means, but she did not deny the journalist's assumption about the possibility of war and the preparation of the West for it.
Earlier it was reported that Western countries have not decided on the sanctions policy against Russia. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba spoke about the preparation of the US, EU and UK sanctions against the Russian Federation and noted that they “very quickly” began to develop a new package of measures, and “key concrete decisions” in this direction are almost ready. At the same time, he added that the West has not yet decided in what order to introduce restrictions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the aggravation of the situation in Ukraine began in 2014, and noted that Russia “was forced to do something.” The President spoke about the prevailing impression that Ukraine is planning a military operation in Donbass, and added that “maybe it is necessary to prepare for this.” Putin stressed that Russia should think about the prospects for its security in the near future.
