Former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States: Putin will meet with Zelensky on his own terms

Russian President Vladimir Putin will agree to a meeting with his colleague Volodymyr Zelensky on condition that he “destroys the political career” of the former head of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. This was stated by the former Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valery Chaly on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel, RIA Novosti reports.
“This is Putin's demand for him to agree with Zelensky to speak. That is, for Putin, Poroshenko is enemy number one, ”he said.
Chaly noted that his words were based on the experience of working with Russia in various negotiations, and he had nothing to prove his theory with. He also believes that the prosecution of Poroshenko will lead nowhere.
Earlier, the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak said that Zelensky is ready to call Putin. Before that, the President of Ukraine said that he would contact the head of the Russian Federation directly if the administrations in Kiev and Moscow did not agree on problematic issues.
On December 20, Petro Poroshenko was accused of treason in the framework of the case on the purchase of coal from Donbass. The Security Service of Ukraine accused the politician of using his powers as the head of state to break contracts for coal supplies from South Africa. The politician was suspected of treason back in early October.
