The deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the party “Opposition Platform – For Life” Renat Kuzmin said about the flight of residents of Kiev and the authorities from the capital against the background of statements about the “invasion” of Russia. He wrote about this in his Facebook.
He considered the decrease in the number of people on the streets of the city to be the consequences of the statement about Moscow’s “aggression”. “Why do you think? Because some take their families abroad, others hide their loved ones mainly in the western regions of Ukraine. They are preparing for a Russian invasion. Someone is afraid of the Ryazan paratroopers, someone is afraid of our homegrown rioters, who will stupidly rob under the calls of the fight against the occupiers,” he said.
The parliamentarian added that the authorities are silent, and only “quietly take out loved ones and property that can still be taken out.”
On February 4, it was reported that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky refused to believe the assurances of US leader Joe Biden in the reality of an imminent Russian invasion. Sources of The Economist noted that he saw the real enemies of the state inside the country.
Earlier, Zelensky ambiguously answered the question about the invasion of Russia. The President is sure that Ukraine’s war with Russia has been going on since 2014. “Now all the news and information space is full of similar reports about the war with Russia, that the invasion may begin tomorrow. And what exactly is the news? Isn’t this a reality for eight years already?” he addressed the citizens on January 19. Zelensky also called on Ukrainians to stop panicking and not buy food in stores. In addition, Zelensky shared his opinion that the Russians are not ready to fight with Ukraine.
