Marta Fedina and Anastasia Savchuk
Ukrainian political scientist Oleksiy Golobutsky said that the words of the athletes who told about friendship with their rivals from Russia at the Olympics are a blow to Ukraine. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“The synchronized players have dealt a tangible blow to our international positions – including those aspects that relate to negotiations with allies on military assistance,” Golobutsky wrote.
The political scientist also believes that the response of the girls may lead to the fact that other countries consider the statements of Ukraine about the conflict with Russia untrue and refuse to help Kiev.
In addition, he drew attention to the fact that the press conference in Tokyo was held in Russian.
Synchronized swimmers Marta Fedina and Anastasia Savchuk said during a press conference that they respect all participants in the competition, including Russians. The girls noted that sports have nothing to do with politics. Fedina called the Russians “best friends.”
At the awards ceremony for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Ukrainian Fedina and Savchuk were confused with the Russians Svetlana Romashina and Svetlana Kolesnichenko, who said that the announcer in the arena introduced their rivals as athletes of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).
