Ukrainian political scientist Alexander Lazarev accused the country’s authorities of treason because of the decision to import gas from Hungary. He told about this on the air of the NASH TV channel.

He noted that for the first time in history, the reverse of Russian gas will be carried out from Hungary, which gets there not through the Ukrainian GTS, but through the Turkish Stream. At the same time, he added, Kiev pays $ 1,440 per thousand cubic meters, while the average gas price in Europe is $ 350.

“I see this as treason, because by not buying gas directly, but buying the same gas from Russia, only through reverse partners, we pay both Russia and partners. Are we the richest state in the world?”, – the expert estimated.

On February 4, it was reported that pumping through the Ukrainian gas transportation system (GTS) by Gazprom was declining for the third day in a row, after it almost doubled on February 1. From 106.74 million cubic meters at the beginning of the month (almost coincides with the contract 109 million), transit first decreased to 92.47 million on February 2, and then fell to 82.07 million. The application for February 4 has already amounted to 73.03 million cubic meters.

Deliveries via the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline in Germany are still not underway. They were discontinued on December 21, 2021 and, despite several bookings, have not resumed.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine has begun preparations for the termination of transit, which will make impossible the practice of virtual reverse, in which gas for Europe remained on the territory of the country. For the first time since 2014, Kiev has increased the possibilities for guaranteed physical gas imports from the EU.
