Oleksiy Arestovich, a freelance adviser to the head of the office of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, called the words of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu about the provocations allegedly prepared by American private military companies (PMCs) in the Donbass as trolling of the United States. He told about it on the air of the TV channel “Dom”.
So he answered the question of what is behind Shoigu's statements.
“This is pure whipping up according to the canons of information and psychological operations … They troll the Americans by analogy with chemical weapons in Iraq, which the Americans used as one of the arguments for conducting a military operation in Iraq. On the part of Russia, this is a purely informational and psychological operation to stir up panic, ”Arestovich said.
On December 21, at an expanded meeting of the Collegium of the Ministry of Defense with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sergei Shoigu said that the US PMCs were preparing provocations with chemical weapons in Donbass. According to him, in order to achieve this goal, the United States delivered tanks with unidentified chemicals to the cities of Avdiivka and Krasny Liman. Later, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby denied Shoigu's words, stressing that the statement by the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense is far from reality.
