In the unrecognized Transnistria today, March 17, separatists announced an “arrival” at a military unit. According to them, the explosion was caused by an attack drone. There were no casualties as a result of the impact.
Position of Moldova
The Moldovan Bureau of Reintegration Policy reported that they contacted other government agencies of the Republic of Moldova, and after studying the video images and exchanging information, they stated that “this incident is an attempt to cause fear and panic in the region”.
“The military equipment in the pictures has not been working for several years. The Chisinau authorities, in contact with the Ukrainian side, do not confirm an attack on the Transnistrian region,” the message says.

Representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) Andrey Yusov, in a comment to “Suspilny”, called the drone attack on a military unit in Transnistria “a Russian provocation.”
The Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation believes that Russia itself committed a provocation in Transnistria.
“The main logic of the Kremlin’s actions is to escalate the situation with information, since the Russian Federation does not have a corridor in Transnistria to carry out military provocations,” the center emphasized.
According to the Center, the Russians are trying to commit provocations and manipulate in the information space precisely to escalate the situation.
Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) explained how the Kremlin wants to use Transnistria and Gagauzia to destabilize Moldova.
