In Transcarpathia, forests were illegally cut down for more than UAH 5 million

In the Transcarpathian region, forests were illegally cut down causing damage for 5 million UAH . Law enforcers have already reported the suspicions to offenders.

According to law enforcement officers, the former 61-year-old forester organized an illegal scheme with the help of two accomplices.

Their illegal activities were exposed by operatives of the Strategic Investigation Department in the Transcarpathian region, together with investigators of the TU GBR.

– The former forester, at the same time being an employee of the state forest protection body, attracted an assistant and a forest foreman to the scheme in order to carry out illegal forest felling without proper documents and contrary to the plan for sanitary felling.

< p> The timber was sold to third parties bypassing the established norms. The amount of damage caused to the state is more than UAH 5.3 million, & # 8212; it says in the message.

To hide the crime, the violators drew up documents on the proper implementation of sanitary felling in a separate area.

The former forester was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 28 – part 3 of Art. 365 (abuse of power or official powers by a law enforcement officer committed by a group of persons) and Part 1 of Art. 366 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. His assistant announced suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 28 – part 3 of Art. 365, and the forest master – according to part 2 of Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

In September, the State Bureau of Investigation exposed illegal deforestation on the territory of the reserve fund in Bukovina. Due to the negligence of a forestry worker, the state incurred losses amounting to UAH 3.3 million.
