The police arrested the culprit.

A car crashed into a barricade outside the Israeli embassy in Tokyo on Thursday, November 16, injuring a special forces officer who was serving under heightened security because of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, police said.

Kyodo writes about this.

Police arrested Senogu Sekiguchi, 53, a member of a right-wing group, at the scene for allegedly interfering with an officer's duties by hitting him with a minicar about 10:50 a.m. on a street about 60 meters north. west of the embassy.

Sekiguchi admitted the charges and said he felt sorry for the officer, police said. The employee, who is in his 20s, was injured, including a broken finger.

The incident comes amid heightened security as various groups stage demonstrations outside the embassy to protest Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military has stepped up its ground incursion into Gaza as part of an attempt to root out Palestinian militant group Hamas after it carried out a deadly cross-border attack on October 7 that took hundreds of civilians hostage.
