Cyberpolice of Vinnytsia region exposed a man who hacked pages on social networks to organize military fundraising.

A 25-year-old resident of Vinnytsia hacked the personal pages of users and, on their behalf, posted a publication about raising money.

The attacker pretended to be going to the front, because of which he financial assistance is urgently needed to buy ammunition.

Friends of users of hacked accounts sent money to the attacker's personal bank card. In a few days, the defendant “collected” about 60 thousand hryvnia, which he spent on his own needs.

Currently, the cyber police are establishing how the defendant gained access to user accounts. According to preliminary data, the attacker used phishing links.

Cyberpolice reminds: to protect social network accounts from hacking, create strong, complex passwords and do not use the same password for several resources. Also, do not click on dubious hyperlinks, and for additional protection, turn on two-factor authentication.

Investigators of the Vinnitsa District Police Department opened criminal proceedings under Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, Investigative actions are ongoing.
