Journalist David Lees: medicines helped Russian figure skaters in free skating

American journalist David Lees spoke about the use of suspicious drugs by Russian figure skaters Alexandra Trusova and Anna Shcherbakova. He shared this opinion in a podcast on the YouTube channel TheSkatingLesson.
The journalist noted that in the short program at the Russian Championship, the figure skaters looked weak. At the same time, in the free program, Trusova had much more energy. “I don't know what the doctor did, but he was there all weekend. The medications they took were great. They helped, ”Lees said.
The American noticed that in 2020 a similar situation happened with Shcherbakova. “Shcherbakova last year had a lot of energy in her free skate, and in the short skate she was just dying. It's very unusual when you feel so bad one day and the next you look so amazing, ”he recalled.
At the Russian Championship, which ended in St. Petersburg on December 26, Trusova took second place with 248.65 points. Three-time champion of Russia and reigning world champion Shcherbakova finished the top three. For the rentals, she received 239.56 points. Kamila Valieva became the champion of the country, who received a total of 283.48 points for two programs.
