The Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) “Orion” has become a real “drone killer”, having learned to destroy other drones, says The Drive.
Thus, the American publication commented on the recent tests of Orion in Crimea, where the latter, during an air battle from a height of four kilometers, shot down a helicopter-type drone with a guided missile.
It is noted that Orion is capable not only of shooting down the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones, but also acting as their competitor in foreign markets. “Tests of the Orion UAV as a drone interceptor over Crimea also look like a clear signal for Ukraine,” the US magazine says.
The publication notes that, most likely, a new Russian X-UAV missile was used from Orion, which is a development of the ammunition line of the Kornet-D anti-tank guided missile system, and a product resembling the Austrian Camcopter S-100 unmanned helicopter was used as a target. …
In November, RIA Novosti, citing Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheev, reported that the Orion-E reconnaissance drone entered the foreign market in 2021, which interested foreign customers.
