Linda Thomas-Greenfield
US Permanent Representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that the American side has to look for a diplomatic approach to work on controversial issues. So she commented on cooperation with Russia, Iran and North Korea on the air of CNN.
In her opinion, representatives of the States sometimes face forced labor with people they dislike. Still, disagreements need to be overcome, Thomas-Greenfield acknowledged. “If you don't talk to them, then you won't be able to move anywhere or achieve something,” the permanent representative admitted.
Thomas-Greenfield stressed that in some areas the US and Russia can and should work together. For example, she considered it important to coordinate actions on the fight against climate change and the situation in Syria.
At the end of January, the Permanent Representative also spoke about the need to “find a way to work” with Russia in the UN Security Council on issues where countries have common interests. Thomas-Greenfield pointed to some aggressive actions of Moscow and urged to respond to them with the same aggressiveness.
