In the United States, the second Army sergeant was found dead in 10 days at the same military base.
US Army Sgt. , who was based at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina, was found dead Saturday, just 10 days after another undead sergeant was found at the same training base.

30-year-old Staff Sergeant Zachary Melton was found in his vehicle after he failed to show up for work. He was part of the 1st Battalion, 34th Infantry Regiment.
“We are very saddened by the loss of Staff Sergeant Melton. Our thoughts are with his family and the members of the Forward Battalion during this very emotional time,” said Brigadier General Jason Kelly, Fort Jackson commander. < /p>
Nothing is known about the cause of death yet.
However, this tragic incident was the second that Fort Jackson experienced in the last two weeks. On December 8, Staff Sergeant Allen Bertram, 34, of the 2nd Battalion, 13th Infantry Regiment, was found dead by a member of his unit. He also didn't show up for work.
According to local reports, Burtram has been based at Fort Jackson for the past 18 months and has served in the Army for 12 years. The Army Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident but said there is no clear evidence of murder.
In addition, 40-year-old Staff Sergeant Jaime Contreras also died at Fort Jackson in 2023. After a land navigation course, he was reported missing. They found him just 9 hours later, about 50 meters outside the training course.
Fort Jackson officials never released the cause of Contreras' death.
