In the United States, the scarce ketchup is sold at auctions

by alex

The coronavirus pandemic provoked and provokes a shortage in the United States for a variety of goods: at some point toilet paper disappeared from the shelves, until the end of last year in America it was almost impossible to buy at least something from a wide range of household chemicals.

And now, American consumers are unable to purchase regular ketchup, Fox reports. Retailers explain this by the fact that there were interruptions in the supply of this product, plus manufacturers were unable to navigate in time with the transition to the production of this sauce in other, more popular packages.

As it turned out, the consumer now prefers not bottled ketchup, but packaged in single, portioned sachets.

Prices for such bags have increased by 13%, and they themselves have disappeared from sale altogether.

Previously seemingly useless (in American catering establishments, ketchup, as a rule, is given free of charge), sachets of sauces have become the subject of fierce bargaining – they are put up for Internet auctions.

The statistics of the most popular online store ebay records many transactions for the sale of ketchup. So, 50 bags were recently sold for $ 9.99, and 50 – for $ 11.99. 500 sachets are offered for $ 28.95.

Not only tomato ketchup is in demand, but also sauces of various brands, also packaged in portioned packages.
