In the United States, a court sentenced another participant in the storming of the Capitol, which took place on January 6, 2021 in Washington. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the American Department of Justice.
28-year-old American Devlin Thomson received three years and ten months in prison for attacking police guards during riots in the US Congress building. According to the case file, the man shouted insults at the law enforcement officers, threw a flagpole at one of them, and took the shield away from the other.
Earlier, the niece of former US President Donald Trump Mary accused her uncle that he was most likely disappointed that the storming of the Capitol in January failed. According to her, the ex-president knew that, together with his closest associates, he was directly responsible for the unrest that broke out in the country.
The storming of the US Capitol building took place on January 6 during a rally of supporters of the then current US President Donald Trump, who did not recognize the results of the November vote, which resulted in the election of Democrat Joe Biden as president. The rallies led to clashes with the police. As a result, five people were killed and dozens were detained.
