The Pentagon denied the words of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu about the impending provocation in Donbass, calling them “untrue.” RIA Novosti writes about it.
“These statements by Minister Shoigu are completely untrue,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told reporters, commenting on the words about provocations with chemical weapons in Donbass.
He added that US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin did not speak to Shoigu amid escalating tensions around Ukraine. “I have nothing to announce from his schedule today,” Kirby said.
Earlier it was reported that the authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) took seriously the words of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu about the impending provocations with the use of chemical weapons by fighters of American PMCs in Donbass.
Sergei Shoigu announced the preparation of provocations with the use of chemical weapons at an expanded meeting of the board of the Ministry of Defense with the participation of President Vladimir Putin on December 21. He explained that for these purposes, the mercenaries delivered tanks with unidentified chemicals to the cities of Avdeevka and Krasny Liman.
