В США полицейские застрелили темнокожую женщину, которая же их и вызвала

A woman called the cops because she thought an unknown person might have broken into her home. However, one of the police shot her.

In Illinois (USA), police shot and killed a black woman who called them because that an unknown person could have entered her house.

BBC and CNN write about this.

A woman called the cops to her home because she was afraid that someone had broken into her house.

Bodycam video shows Deputy Grayson asking a woman to remove a pot of water from the stove, saying, “We don't need a fire while we're here.”

The woman went to the stove to remove the pan and said, “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus.” At this moment it seems that they are joking.

Then the policeman starts shouting: “You better not, [mat], otherwise, I swear to God, I [mat] will shoot you in the [mat] face.” After that, he pulled out a gun and shouted for the woman to throw the pan.

She replied, “Okay, sorry,” and sat down, hiding behind the partition. At that moment the cop fired.

A few minutes after the shooting, Grayson is heard talking to another law enforcement official: “She had boiling water and she came at me with boiling water. She said she was going to rebuke me in the name of Jesus and she lashed out boiling water on me.” .

The man was fired from the police and charged with murder, after which he was detained. Grayson himself does not admit his guilt.

President Joe Biden responded to the incident. He called on the US Congress to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act to increase trust and accountability in American police.

“Soni Massey—mother, friend, daughter, and young black woman—should be alive today. Sonya's death at the hands of a police officer reminds us that too often, black Americans face fears for their safety in ways that no other we don’t feel this. Sonya’s family deserves justice,” he wrote on the social network X.

Recall that on May 25, 2020, in Minneapolis, local police stopped the car of a black man George Floyd. The officers took him to the ground and handcuffed him. One of the cops used a choke hold – he pinned the man to the ground, pressing his knee on his neck. All this was observed by the policeman’s partners and passers-by, who called on the cops to come to their senses and stop the officer from strangling the man. Probably one of them called an ambulance, which arrived and took George Floyd unconscious. He was brought to the hospital already dead. Cause of death: cardiac arrest.

The four police officers involved in the arrest 60~/strong> were fired the next day. Derek Chauvin, who strangled a man, was arrested.

The Americans reacted to the news instantly. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the very next day—May 26—people in Minneapolis took to the streets en masse to protest police brutality and racism. Following Minneapolis protests against racism swept across the country.
