The girl was in the dressing room of a clothing store when she was hit by a police bullet.
In the US state of California on Thursday, December 23, Los Angeles police shot and killed a 14-year-old girl while trying to detain a suspect.
The Associated Press reported.
The incident took place at a Burlington store. Militiamen opened fire towards the man, who had seriously injured the woman the day before, and then tried to attack another person.
The attacker received several gunshot wounds, from which he died. A metal cable lock was found near him, which could have been an attack weapon.
During the shooting, one of the police bullets hit the wall of the locker room and mortally wounded a 14-year-old girl who was inside. Investigators are investigating whether the teenager was in the locker room before the incident, or if she ran there to hide.
Meanwhile, the woman injured by the attacker was hospitalized with moderate to severe injuries. She sustained injuries to her head, arms and face.
