The Russian hypersonic missile system with a guided warhead “Avangard” is invincible with the US anti-missile defense (ABM) capabilities, writes the American magazine The National Interest.
“As soon as the rocket reaches the desired height, the block separates and rushes towards the target at an astonishing speed. This weapon accelerates to 27 Mach numbers and is capable of maneuvering during flight, which allows it to overcome the most difficult missile defense system, designed to intercept targets moving along constant trajectories, ”the publication says.
Another country that possesses such weapons, besides Russia, is China.
Thus, the publication commented on the video of the Russian Ministry of Defense, published earlier in December on YouTube, which shows the loading of the Avangard rocket into the mine.
In the same month, the Zvezda TV channel published a video showing the appearance of Avangard.
In September, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Avangard missile system was created on the initiative of the Russian designer of rocket and rocket and space technology Herbert Efremov, who was then awarded the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called.
For the first time, Putin spoke about Avangard during his address to the Federal Assembly in March 2018. Then the Russian leader said that the winged warhead of the complex is capable of flying at a speed 20 times higher than the speed of sound and “goes to the target like a meteorite, like a ball of fire.”
