In the United States created a mosquito repellent with genetically modified bacteria
American scientists are developing a mosquito repellent that will spread genetically modified bacteria on human skin. The work is being carried out within the framework of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) program, Vesti reports.
The new product will need to be applied to the skin every two weeks. Its effect will continue even if the person bathes regularly. In addition, the repellent should be odorless and irritating.
Research is currently at an early stage. The prototype must be tested on animals to prove its safety and effectiveness. Only then will it be possible to begin experiments on humans.
Earlier it became known that on the island of King George in Antarctica, which is in demand among tourists, ordinary mosquitoes began to be noticed.
