US Navy Arleigh Burke destroyers based in Spain have AN / SLQ-62 Transportable Electronic Warfare Module-Speed To Fleet (TEWM-STF) systems capable of killing Russian anti-ship missiles P-800 “Onyx”, writes The Drive.
The American edition calls these anti-ship missiles one of the most powerful and numerous in Russia. According to The Drive, Russia, in particular, has the modernized P-800 Onyx not only in the Mediterranean (Syria), but also in the Black Sea (Crimea).
The publication writes that surface and submarine ships, aircraft and coastal missile systems equipped with such weapons and their analogues are capable of turning the Black Sea into a zone of continuous destruction of anti-ship missiles, “potentially crushing even the protection of the most advanced warships.”
In March 2018, The Drive wrote that the US Navy on the destroyer Carney, which then left the Black Sea, was testing a new electronic warfare system AN / SLQ-32 (V) 6, upgraded as part of the SEWIP (Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program) Block 2 The publication noted that the use of the updated AN / SLQ-32 (V) 6 allowed the American military to test their systems in an area dominated by Russian electronic means.
