In Washington, a woman was killed during protests by supporters of incumbent President Donald Trump. It is reported by the NBC News TV channel.

According to law enforcement officials, the woman was shot in the chest in the Capitol building.

Protesters broke into the building and surrounded the Senate Hall on January 6. The Senate and House of Representatives have suspended a meeting, which was planned to approve the results of the electoral college, according to which Democrat Joe Biden won the presidential election. Trump himself has called on supporters to act peacefully and support the police. Later it became known that the Capitol building in Washington was cleared of protesters.
