President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved by his decree a new strategy for the country's information security. RIA Novosti reports.

According to the document, Russia's information policy is a threat not only to Kiev, but also to other democratic countries. It notes that the special information operations of the Russian Federation are aimed at key democratic institutions, in particular electoral ones, and Moscow's special services are trying to strengthen internal contradictions in other states.

The strategy adopted by Zelenskiy identifies restrictive measures as an effective monitoring mechanism and accountability for disinformation. In the document, the threat is also called the rapid development of social networks against the background of a low level of media literacy of the population.

Earlier, Zelensky imposed sanctions against companies that include Ukrainian opposition media. In particular, the Novosti media holding, which includes the opposition TV channels 112 Ukraine, NewsOne, ZIK, as well as Time Media LLC (Pershy Nezalezhny TV channel) and Teleprostir LLC (Ukrliv TV channel), fell under the restrictions. … The measures come into force from the date of publication of the decree and are valid for five years.
