In the footsteps of Ukraine: Almost half of Americans would like to see a film actor as their president

According to a poll, 46% of Americans supported the candidacy of Hollywood actor and former wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the next presidential election.

Johnson was repeatedly asked about the possible nomination of his candidacy for the post of head of the White House.

In 2016, the actor called the idea of running for president “tempting”, a year later promised to “think seriously”, and earlier this year said that his decision would entirely depend on the Americans:

– I would think about the presidential race in the future if people want it. It will depend on them. So I'll wait and listen. I will keep my finger on the pulse.

It is known that earlier Johnson voted for Barack Obama, and last year he supported Joe Biden.

In addition to Johnson's candidacy, the Americans were asked to determine which other star would be worth participating in the presidential race as a candidate. Almost a third of the votes were cast for Angelina Jolie, a little more than a quarter for Oprah Winfrey, and every fifth would like to see Tom Hanks in the chair of the US President. In general, more than 60% of Americans are confident that Hollywood celebrities can make good politicians.

Johnson himself commented on his possible victory in the elections as follows:

“I'm not sure our Founding Fathers ever imagined that a bald, tattooed, half African American, half Samoan tequila drinking guy with a belt bag would join their club. But if this ever happens, I will be honored to serve people.

It is worth remembering that the advance to power of the current President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky began with a comedy series where the actor played a history teacher who became the country's president. The Ukrainians, tired of constant political collisions, brought the story to life. What came of this is well known.
