In the Czech Republic, until January 22, severe social restrictions are extended
The Czech government today decided to extend the country's severe social restrictions from December 27 amid the coronavirus, Czech Television reported.
Previously, the measures were planned to be canceled on January 10, but now they will be in effect until January 22, when the period of the emergency regime expires in the republic.
On December 27, the Czech Republic moved to the maximum, fifth level of the epidemic threat, which implies restrictions on leaving home without an urgent need, the closure of consumer services businesses and most of the shops. The ban on the free movement of residents is valid from 21.00 to 05.00. In accordance with the fifth level of the epidemic threat, no more than two people can take part in outdoor meetings or in public places. The allowed number of participants in weddings, funerals and services is no more than 15, TASS specifies.
It is reported that the authorities plan to fully compensate for the damage to entrepreneurs, whose business suffered due to the lockdown. Also, it is not ruled out that the hard restrictions will be extended after January 22.
Over the past 24 hours, the maximum number of infected people during the epidemic was registered in the Czech Republic – 17 668. The indicator is growing for the second day in a row, which indicates the continuing deterioration of the epidemiological situation. It is clarified that the coronavirus was found in almost half of those tested.
The total number of cases in the country with a population of 10.71 million reached 794 740. During the epidemic, 12 621 residents of the republic died. Since December 30, Czech hospitals have switched to an emergency mode of operation and carry out only emergency operations, not accepting patients for planned hospitalization. On December 27, vaccination against coronavirus started in the country.
