At the last meeting, the Czech government raised the salaries of social workers, medical workers and teachers, and vice versa froze the salaries of civil servants of ministries and other departments, as well as constitutional officials.

It is reported that next year the salaries of social workers in the Czech Republic will increase by 700 kroons. The government also decided to increase the salaries of medical workers by 6% and teachers by 2%. At the same time, the government decided to freeze the salaries of civil servants in ministries and other institutions, as well as all constitutional officials.
“The government agreed to increase salaries in the public sector, and this increase takes into account the state of the budget and what awaits us in the coming months, “the prime minister said.
He added that in the case of teachers, the government made sure that their salaries did not fall below 130% of the average salary. According to Fiala, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is already preparing a corresponding amendment to the law in case of freezing the wages of constitutional officials.
In early November, the previous government decided that from January, state and public workers will receive an additional 1,400 kroons. Teachers' salaries were supposed to rise by three percent. However, according to the Minister of Finance Zbinek Stanyura (ODS), such an increase cannot afford the state budget, which, according to him, is in a disastrous state.
“The situation for the government is very difficult. However, we found resources to reward those at the forefront of the fight against covid and teachers. Education will be a priority for the government, “he said.
At the same time, Stanjour noted that in recent years, wages public and private sector fees have increased. In 2013 and 2014, he said, salaries in the public sector were two to three percent higher than in the private sector, and now they are already 15 percent.
In addition, the government today decided to increase the salaries of military personnel , for example, soldiers or policemen, for 700 crowns.
At the end of November, the Czech state budget had a deficit of 401.5 billion crowns.
