A huge nuclear waste disposal site will be built in the Czech Republic by 2065. This is reported by TASS with reference to local media.
The storage facility at a depth of 500 meters will contain thousands of tons of spent nuclear fuel from the Temelin and Dukovany nuclear power plants. The burial ground will be located near these stations in a sparsely populated area.
Now radioactive waste is stored in special warehouses directly at the nuclear power plant. The authorities will allocate 111 billion kroons (approximately 4.1 billion euros) for the creation of the burial ground.
In May, it was reported that the State Agency of Ukraine for the Management of the Exclusion Zone would build a storage facility for radioactive waste that would be sent to Russia for reprocessing and then brought back. We are talking about spent nuclear fuel from Ukrainian nuclear power plants. A storage facility for it will be built at the Vector production complex. The radiation safety guarantee will be 100 years.
