In the center of Moscow, archaeologists have discovered a 17th century horse comb

On Petrovka Street in the center of the capital, archaeologists have found a 17th century horse comb. It was discovered during construction work near house number 17, according to the official website of the mayor of Moscow.

The scraper is an iron brush with blunt teeth used to comb and clean horses. Scientists believe that this hairbrush ended up on Petrovka, since there used to be a stable not far from the construction site. In those days, such an item was in almost every house where there were horses. Modern scrapers are made of metal or rubber.

“The scrubber was a very useful tool in the stable. In order to harness a horse, it first had to be cleaned. Any dust and dirt accumulated in the fur of the animal led to abrasions and even open wounds in the places of contact with the harness, ”said the head of the Department of Cultural Heritage Alexei Yemelyanov.

The artifact will be restored and donated to one of the Moscow museums.

Recall that in September 2019, archaeologists from the capital discovered a chess piece of the 17th-18th centuries on Ostozhenka Street. And in March 2020, in the Basmanny district of Moscow, during work on the railway, an old safe of the late 19th – early 20th centuries was found with signs of a burglary.
