In the north of St. Petersburg, a six-year-old child was killed by an electric train. This was reported in the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for transport in the North-Western Federal District, reports TASS.

According to the agency, the child was hit by an electric train on the Lakhta-Novaya Derevnya section on Friday, February 11.

The North-Western Transport Prosecutor's Office reported that the minor crossed the railway tracks in the wrong place. “The driver gave high volume signals, applied emergency braking, but the collision could not be avoided. The boy died in the hospital, ”they added.

The Western Interregional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia has begun an investigation. Investigators are working at the scene.

Earlier, in the Tver region, a Sapsan, which followed from St. Petersburg to Moscow, knocked down a woman to death. The driver of the train urgently braked and gave sound signals, but it was not possible to prevent the collision.
