In Saudi Arabia, for the first time in history, a vacancy for train drivers has been opened for women.

This is reported by the BBC.

It is noted that 28,000 candidates applied for 30 places open to women in a private railway company. By the way, we are talking about a position on a high-speed train that will run between the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

The company says that the winners of the competition will be trained for a year. Only after that they will be allowed to drive the train.

By the way, Saudi Arabia is still the country with the most stringent rules for women. That is why there is a very high percentage of unemployed among the young ladies. However, gradually some bans in the country began to be lifted.

After seizing power in Afghanistan , the Taliban reportedly announced that they would segregate institutions of higher education by gender, as well as introduce a new dress code for female students. According to the so-called “Minister of Higher Education” Abdul Baki Haqqani, girls will be allowed to receive education, but they will have to study separately from boys. Relevant requirements will also apply to primary and secondary schools.
