In Russia, they talked about the development of unique ceramic armor for armored vehicles. This was stated by Igor Nasenkov, General Director of the Tekhnodinamika holding, a part of the Rostec corporation, reports TASS.
According to him, factory tests of the new armor are being carried out, which will be completed in the next 3-4 months. He stressed that the ceramic plates, which will be used to protect armored vehicles, have such advantages as lightness and greater resistance to various artillery and tank weapons.
Earlier, researchers from the University of Durham in the UK and the German Fraunhofer Institute created a material called Proteus that cannot be cut. When trying to cut through a “non-cut” material, it emits waves that destroy saw blades or knives. The features of such a material are explained by its internal structure. It consists of ceramic spheres that are inside an aluminum honeycomb structure.
