In Moscow they mention the Union, where they resorted to the death penalty – execution.

In the aggressor country of Russia they started talking about to lift the existing moratorium on the death penalty in the country 60~/strong>.

This was stated by the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, during the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, RosSMI writes.

“We need to consider lifting the moratorium on the death penalty. In some cases it needs to be applied, and in these cases I am a supporter of the death penalty,” he said.

As an example, where, in Bastrykin’s opinion, it would be worth returning to the death penalty, he named the terrorist attack in Crocus City Holly, where 144 people died. According to him, in the USSR “the death penalty could be imposed for the murder of two or three people.” However, those accused of the terrorist attack “will receive a maximum of life imprisonment,” said the head of the Investigation.

He emphasized that to return the death penalty there is no need to change the Russian constitution. Like, just a decree from dictatorial President Vladimir Putin is enough.

“I was told by some competent, qualified lawyers that the constitution needs to be changed, that a referendum needs to be held, but I believe that the moratorium on executions should simply be abolished by presidential decree,” Bastrykin emphasized.

As reported, the Crocus City Hall terrorists can be tried in Belarus, where the death penalty is still used for serious crimes. The Belarusian citizen is on the list of those killed as a result of the terrorist attack, which may become a formal basis for the verdict of the court of the republic.
