The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes to update the procedure for making a decision on the undesirability of a foreign citizen’s stay in Russia. This is what Izvestia writes about.
The new document proposes to revise a number of criteria. In particular, to abolish the time limits during which the central office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs may decide to expel a migrant from the country. In addition, law enforcement agencies will also have to take into account the presence of a foreign citizen’s family in Russia.
Since the beginning of this year, temporary measures introduced by President Vladimir Putin, which allowed foreigners to regulate their legal status for the legitimate exercise of labor activity without leaving the country, have expired in Russia. Since the beginning of January, illegally working migrants can be expelled from Russian territory with a ban on re-entry.
Earlier, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, IT and Mass Media Alexander Khinshtein explained the problem of migrants. According to him, “not the best representatives of their peoples are emigrating to Russia.” “These are often not doctors, musicians or doctors of sciences, but illiterate people who do not have a specialty, who are ready to work literally for a plate of soup,” the politician said. The State Duma deputy also noted that migrant children differ from native Russians in upbringing, mentality and culture. “It’s not about national differences, but civilizational ones,” he stressed.
