The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation has entered into the register of foreign media agents eight people who seemingly disseminate information and receive foreign funding.

Among the persons whose activities have been equated with the mass media working for foreign money are mainly publicists and artists. In particular, these are the satirist Viktor Shenderovich, members of the punk group Pussy Riot Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Veronika Nikulshina, political scientist and gallery owner Marat Gelman, editor-in-chief of the Kholod publication Taisiya Bekbulatova, journalists of Radio Liberty recognized as a foreign agent Elena Vladykina and Ivan Belyaev, as well as the founder of the Neft cinema club and the Rage project Andrei Alekseev.
“This decision was made on the basis of documents received from authorized government bodies,” the Russian Justice Ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, these persons “systematically distribute materials to an indefinite circle of people, while receiving foreign funding.”
