The Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering (TsKB MT) “Rubin” has presented a new version of the submersible ship “Guardian”. The patrol ship, which combines the advantages of submarines and surface vessels, received torpedo tubes and missile launchers. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Rubin Central Design Bureau.
The new version of the ship received a small-caliber automatic cannon, two launchers for guided missiles and four torpedo tubes of 324 mm caliber. “This equipment makes the Guardian a dangerous adversary even for much larger surface ships,” the press service said.
The report noted that the length of the new version of the Guard will be 72 meters with a normal displacement of 1300 tons. The new contours of the ship will increase stability, as well as reduce pitching and radar visibility. The upgraded “Guardian” received a hydroacoustic antenna in the bow bulb, which improves the working conditions of the antenna and reduces the resistance to movement.
The power plant with increased power allows the ship to reach speeds of up to 21 knots. The Guardian received two hangars to accommodate boats, drones and weapons for inspection teams. The ship allows you to search for intruders using a radar station and sonar antennas. This allows the “Guardian” to covertly approach the target.
In September 2021, a representative of the Rubin Central Design Bureau of MT announced that Russia had designed the Surrogat underwater robot drone. The drone allows you to simulate submarines in exercises.
In April 2021, Rubin Design Bureau announced the development of the Guardian patrol ship. The ship is planned to be launched on the world market under the designation Border and Offshore Submersible Sentry (BOSS).
