The company “Mobile TeleSystems” the first in Russia received a license to create a 5G network. It is reported by RBC with reference to representatives of the company.
Mobile TeleSystems, which owns the MTS brand, has received permission for the provision of services in the format of communication of the fifth generation. The corresponding document covers almost all regions of Russia — 83 of 85 subjects. License allows to deploy the communications infrastructure in the range of 24.25-of 24.65 GHz standard 5G/IMT-2020.
A permit has been issued by Roskomnadzor, it is designed to 16 July 2025. “We are one step closer to a new era in the history of communication, digitization and the development of new IT solutions and products,” — said the President of MTS Alexey Root.
According to the company, the first customers of the 5G network from MTS will be large enterprises and business. In particular, the firm intends to provide services to oil and gas companies. The operator also said that the new generation of communication plan to use in medicine, retail and logistics.
The President of MTS said that the fifth generation will allow the use of artificial intelligence technology, the Internet of things, augmented and virtual reality, to develop unmanned vehicles.
