Complex “Peresvet”
In Russia, they began to create laser systems designed to combat drones. This was announced in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper by the deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Defense Alexei Krivoruchko.
He noted that the Peresvet laser complex has been on alert since 2019. “Currently, work is underway to create other laser systems to counter unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as optical and optical-electronic means of the enemy. They are being integrated with the fire weapons of armored vehicles to combat attacking high-precision weapons, ”said Krivoruchko.
The deputy minister added that Russia is also developing a radio-frequency complex to destroy the electronic equipment of a potential enemy.
Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about a promising Russian superweapon in March 2018. He listed the advantages, including the RS-28 Sarmat strategic missile system, the Burevestnik cruise missile of practically unlimited range, the Poseidon underwater unmanned floating vehicle, the Kinzhal aviation missile system, the Avangard missile system with a hypersonic gliding winged unit and a combat laser installation “Peresvet”.
