The Moscow City Court sentenced former Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Timur Ivanov to 13 years of imprisonment in a maximum security penal colony. He was found guilty of accepting bribes and money laundering. Ivanov must also pay a fine of 100 million rubles and will be stripped of his state award.
Ivanov held the position since 2016 and was responsible for logistics, property and medicine in the army. He was arrested in April 2024. According to the investigation, he received a bribe of 1.185 billion rubles from a military contractor. He was subsequently charged with additional money laundering and embezzlement totaling more than 4 billion rubles.
The case was heard behind closed doors. In June, another episode was added – a bribe of 152 million rubles. Anton Filatov, Ivanov's former subordinate, was also sentenced to 12.5 years in prison in the embezzlement case.
Let us recall that earlier we wrote that General of the Russian Army Dmitry Bulgakov, who was Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu until September 2022, was arrested in the Russian Federation. The court has already chosen a preventive measure for him in the form of detention and sent him to a pretrial detention center.
