Moscow. September 30th. INTERFAX.RU – 97% of cases of coronavirus infection in the Russian Federation currently account for the delta strain, said the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova.
“In September, 97% of all strains circulating on the territory of the Russian Federation, and this is tens of thousands, is the delta strain, it prevails (in Russia – IF) as well as throughout the world,” Popova said at a meeting of the Presidium of the Coordination Council to combat coronavirus under the government of the Russian Federation.
Popova noted that 158 countries demonstrate an almost 100% presence of this strain. “It has become dominant. But, at the same time, inside the Russian Federation, we see a certain segmentation, it begins to change. And tight control and supervision of variability allows us to respond in a timely manner and take appropriate measures,” Popova said.
She also added that the highest increase in the incidence of coronavirus is recorded in people over 65. “We see an increase in morbidity in all age groups, but the highest and most intensive rates per 100 thousand people of each age are still recorded in the group of people over 65,” Popova said.
The head of Rospotrebnadzor recalled that people of this age are at risk for a severe course of the disease.
“Traditionally, in September, another seasonal rise in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza began. In the past three weeks, against the background of a seasonal rise in ARVI, we see an increase in the incidence of a new coronavirus infection,” Popova said.
According to her, an increase in the incidence is observed in 56 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. “If in the previous week there were 36 subjects in growth, then at the end of the 38th week there are already 56 such subjects that are in growth,” she said.
According to Popova, growth is observed in the regions of the European part of the country. In the Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts, the situation remains stable so far.
“In the current situation, the share of capital cities and capital regions is not as large as it was in the spring and autumn of last year. We are talking about leveling the epidemiological situation and seasonality, which remains characteristic of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza and becomes characteristic of COVID-19. “, – said the head of Rospotrebnadzor.
She noted that the absence of morbidity dynamics is recorded in 17 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, in another 12 constituent entities a slight decrease in incidence is recorded.
