What is known about the conviction of Ukrainian military personnel in Russia

Journalists note that the cases of these Ukrainian prisoners of war differ from other “terrorism” cases, since all of the defendants are charged under the same article of the indictment – “committing a terrorist act by a group of persons with grave consequences.”

Thus, since November 2024, 159 such cases have been received by the district court, with 267 people becoming defendants.

The Main Military Prosecutor's Office of Russia “reports” on new sentences in similar cases almost daily.

For example, the court found junior lieutenant of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Yevgeny Goch guilty of allegedly committing a “terrorist act” for allegedly taking up firing positions near Olgovka in the Kursk region on October 8, 2024, and then “obstructing the evacuation of civilians” for three weeks and “intimidating them by openly carrying and using combat weapons.”

The publication writes that on October 27, Gocha was wounded and surrendered to the occupiers.

By the way, earlier the Deputy Chairman of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War Andrey Yusov noted that the majority of Ukrainian prisoners of war faced violations of conditions of detention in Russian captivity. In particular, Russia deliberately violated the Geneva Conventions and, in fact, committed crimes against our defenders.
